Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
Headquarters at Station Place - Washington, D.C.
Station Place includes 1,590,000 square feet of office space with driveways on F, 2nd, and H Streets, N.W.  The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is headquartered in two of the three buildings.

The developer, Louis Dreyfus Property Group, retained Wells + Associates to design a new traffic signal at the intersection of H Street and the Station Place garage driveway.  This unique and challenging project entailed the design and construction of a complex traffic signal system that had to be incorporated into the existing H Street overpass bridge structure.

Plan components included a new traffic signal, signing and striping, street lighting, and communication equipment.  Construction support services included bid document preparation and analysis, catalog cut reviews, and record drawing preparation.  The unique signal design elements included:

Determination and understanding of overpass structural elements.
Pullbox and conduit design to interface into the existing structure.
Conduit design included core drilling locations, conduit hanging support system external to the bridge deck and girders, and existing equipment interception.
Participation with foundation design within the existing parapet wall.
The signal plan anticipated and designed for future joint access from the H Street overpass to Station Place and an air rights development over the Union Station tracks.

DDOT later used many of the W + A methods and details to modify an adjacent traffic signal for a City project to expand the Union Station garage.
