West Annapolis Parking Study

Wells + Associates was retained by the City of Annapolis, Maryland to conduct a parking study in West Annapolis.  During weekday business hours, the parking demand in West Annapolis exceeds the parking supply. 

Both local residents and visitors are attracted to the area, due to the immediacy of downtown Annapolis, the niche market of retail and commercial uses, and an increased number of institutional uses.

The eight-block study area contains six apartments, 78,559 S.F. of retail space, 81,939 S.F. of office space, 118,506 S.F. of medical office space, 8,206 S.F. of restaurants, 1,146 S.F. of bank space, and an elementary school.  Existing and projected future conditions were evaluated.

Wells + Associates recommended improvements that can be implemented on an area wide or street-by-street basis including: parking limits, metered parking, Navy stadium parking, shuttle/transit, shared rides, transit use, residential parking permits, parking promotion, and code enforcement.
