| Temple Beth Ami |
| North Potomac, Maryland |
Temple Beth Ami is a growing congregation that was previously located in Rockville on Hurley Avenue adjacent to the Rockshire Shopping Center. The congregation recently built and consecrated a new temple on the west side of Travilah Road, one-quarter mile south of Darnestown Road (MD Route 28) in North Potomac.
The temple is used for religious education and worship services. Enrollment at the new temple increased by one-third, from 900 to 1,200 students.
Wells + Associates conducted a traffic impact study and provided parking and traffic circulation design services for the new site, including an analysis of existing PM peak hour intersection levels of service in the site vicinity, trip generation surveys of the existing temple, projection of future background traffic volumes, analyses of future levels of service with and without the proposed temple, and identification of improvements required to adequately accommodate the new temple.
This analysis took into account the then-planned extension of Key West Avenue from West Gude Drive to Darnestown Road, and the extension of Shady Grove Road from Darnestown Road to Piney Meetinghouse Road.
The Montgomery County Planning Board unanimously approved this project. |
