St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School proposes to develop a new 120-student middle school, 320-student high school, and 27 new single-family homes at 1801 Foxhall Road, on the former Brady Estate.
Wells + Associates was retained to evaluate the traffic, parking, and pedestrian impacts of this proposal.
Wells + Associates: (1) conducted a transportation impact analysis, (2) evaluated the traffic impacts on the adjacent Colony Hill residential neighborhood, (3) developed a Travel Management Plan, (4) recommended improvements on Foxhall Road, (5) participated in numerous meetings with government agencies and citizen’s groups., and (6) provided expert witness testimony before the Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA).
The 1801 Foxhall Road features a 1,175-foot long, one-way loop road with ample queuing space and 170 below-grade parking spaces. The Foxhall Road improvement plan includes a new southbound left turn lane, a new northbound right turn lane, a new traffic signal, and improved signage and pavement markings.
The six-point TMP includes: (1) a carpool initiative, (2) shuttle bus service plan, (3) parking solution plan, (4) student driving initiative and controls, (5) walk/bicycle initiative, and (6) staggered arrival and dismissal time plan.
The plan was supported by the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 3D, Foxhall Community Citizens Association, and the Colony Hill Neighborhood Associations.
