 Montgomery County Public Schools are presently modernizing Rockville High School in the City of Rockville, Maryland. Current student enrolment is 1,189 students. Expansion to accommodate a capacity of 1,610 students is proposed. Wells + Associates prepared a traffic impact study in support of this project. The study addressed auto-, bus-, and pedestrian-trip generation; access/egress via the public street system; on-site vehicle and pedestrian circulation; school pedestrian/bicycle routes; student pick-up/drop-off areas; intersection sight distance; vehicle queues; traffic control devices; parking;, bus routes; and intersection/driveway geometric design. Extensive on-site reviews were conducted to identify traffic and pedestrian patterns. The City of Rockville Council approved a special exception and this project is now under construction. |
