As a result of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process, the Department of Defense (DoD) will be moving up to 20,000 jobs from leased office space and other facilities in the Washington metro region to Fort Belvoir and the Engineer Proving Ground in southern Fairfax County. Fairfax County initiated the BRAC Area Plans Review (APR) process to consider whether the Comprehensive Plan should be amended to respond to changes in housing, trans portation, and public services.
