Chevy Chase Bank Headquarters
Bethesda, Maryland
The Chevy Chase Bank and B. F. Saul Companies recently re-located their headquarters to 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, in the heart of downtown Bethesda.  The headquarters consists of 710,000 S.F. of office space, 40,000 S.F. of ground-floor retail space, a 400-seat live performance theater, and 2,200 underground parking spaces.

Wells + Associates conducted transportation studies in support of this application.  These included analyses of available staging ceiling capacity, impacts on 14 local street intersections, impacts on pedestrians crossing Wisconsin Avenue and East-West Highway, site-generated parking demands, East Bethesda residential neighborhood impacts, and travel demand management (TDM) actions.

The major conclusions of these studies were that: (1) sufficient staging ceiling capacity is available in the Bethesda Central Business District (CBD) to adequately accommodate 7501 Wisconsin Avenue and pipeline developments, (2) the additional trips generated by 7501 Wisconsin Avenue can be adequately accommodated without improvements to existing street or intersections, and (3) the proposed 2,200 parking spaces is consistent with the Montgomery County Interim Parking Policy and TDM goals for the Bethesda CBD.

The Montgomery County Planning Board unanimously approved the project with support from the County Executive.
