Started as an independent company in 1995, Capital One has quickly risen to the top of the credit card industry in the U.S. The CapOne global customer base is 25 million, with annual revenue totaling $3.9 billion.
 
Capital One and their real estate liaison, Jones Lang LaSalle, retained Wells + Associates to assist them in evaluating two alternative sites in Fairfax County, one site in Arlington, and one site in Alexandria as a corporate headquarters.
 
As part of that dynamic process, Wells + Associates conducted both macro- and micro-level traffic assessments.  This included analyses of existing and future demographic, traffic, and commuting patterns in Northern Virginia; identification of short- and long-term roadway and transit improvements in the region; and evaluations of 2010 and 2020 forecasted traffic conditions.
 
Individual sites were evaluated in terms of access opportunities and/or constraints, proffered or committed transportation improvements, proximity of public transit, and potential improvements required to accommodate CapOnes long-term development plans.  Upon selection of a site, Wells + Associates worked in the development of the Master Plan for the project, identifying access issues and required improvements.
