The Reston Land Corporation retained Wells + Associates to perform traffic studies of Sections 935 and 937 of the Reston Town Center. Section 935 is being planned for a 127,000 square foot Target store and walk-in bank. Section 937 is being planned for a 55,545 square foot YMCA, 150-room all-suites hotel, four (4) fast food restaurants with drive-in windows, and a service station.
Wells + Associates identified the roadway improvements needed to adequately accommodate build-out of Sections 935 and 937 and long-range development of the Reston Town Center. This included widening Sunset Hills Road from four (4) to six (6) lanes with turn lanes, consolidating and relocating the existing Sunset Hills Road median break locations, and installing a new traffic signal at the main entrance to Sections 935 and 937. On-site vehicular and pedestrian access and circulation systems were also designed.
